What is life insurance protection?
A Life insurance policy gives you and your family a financial peace of mind, should you pass away within the policy term it allows you to leave a lump sum to help your loved ones maintain their living standards or pay mortgage costs. It’s down to you how much you want to cover your family for.
Who needs life insurance?
If you have dependants this could apply to you. Take the time to consider the cost for your loved ones to maintain their living standards if you were to pass away. This may include costs such as bills, mortgage repayments, school fees and any other debts they might need to maintain.
You will need to take into account who you’re covering, such as your partner and if you have children. It is important to factor in how long your children will need financial support and when your partner might retire.
Joint or separate life insurance policy?
If you and your partner would like combined cover, you can take out a joint policy. This will pay out only once and will not provide cover on the second person after the first passes away.
You can also take out two separate policies, and once we pay out for one person their policy will end – but the second person’s policy will continue.
